War Time Revels

Friday 17th November 2006

George Mould, Christine Griffiths and myself attended the above concert put on by The Christian Drama Resource Centre, we were ther in a recruiting capacity and also to judge the childrens decorated gas mask cases and also the best dressed table for which prizes were won.

The evening started off with a couple of introductions of the ARP Warden and his crew and then on to a couple of recitals of song from the era by the Two Jays, which was then followed by a mini Beetle Drive.

This was then followed by as they put it Dinner, which was corned beef or spam sandwiches and a mug of Tomato & Carrot soup or a mug of Potatoe & Leek, this was followed by Apple and sultana Crumble & Custard.

This was followed by sketches put on by the cast all on a wartime theme, Bombed out Aggie, Loughton Home Guard, The Headmistress of Loughton High School, Loughton's W.I. the Edge of Epping Forest to see some young kids playing, followed by the finale with songs from the Forces Sweethearts, The National Anthem, a prayer of Remembrance which was then followed by presentations to the crew and also to the
Patron of the Group Lady Heather Murray.

It was most definately an experience and was enjoyeds by all those who attended, this full house of 100 plus audience almost all of whom were dressed in costume of the wartime period.
